Michael Downey is a technologist and researcher with deep experience in health informatics. His professional work spans two decades, including roles in health informatics management at large multi-national healthcare corporations, as well as helping to lead award-winning open source Health IT communities. He has been involved with many digital development initiatives to improve the quality of life for people in the global south, including projects focused on mobile health, education, and entrepreneurship. Downey’s education career includes engineering degrees at Purdue University and doctoral studies at Indiana University School of Informatics. In his free time, Michael is active in local community causes and politics, or exploring the natural wonders of the Pacific Northwest.
