Megha graduated with an MS in Health Informatics in May 2024.
Megha M. Moncy was a graduate student at the IU Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering, pursuing a Master’s degree in health informatics. Before enrolling at IUPUI, she completed her bachelor’s degree in dental surgery (BDS) from Peoples Dental College, India. To augment her healthcare expertise, she worked as a dental intern at Peoples Hospital for a year as well as a private dental practice. Megha has been chosen for the 2023 ACCESS Student Training and Engagement Program, which is supported by the NSF-National Science Foundation, and will provide her with a comprehensive understanding of cybersecurity concepts, protocols, and tools.
She has co-authored two research papers that will be presented at the AMIA 2023 Annual Conference. The first one is on “Generalizability of Human Activity Recognition Machine Learning Models from non-Parkinson’s to Parkinson’s Disease Patients,” and the second one is on “Redesigning EHR user interface to enhance Accessibility for Blind users” by integration of Screen Readers. Currently, Megha is a part of the EHR development team, where she is working on the OpenEMR interface, fixing bugs, and improving the overall usability of the EHR.
Besides her research work, Megha is a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering for the course INFO-I501. She mentors students in Python, SQL, and Machine Learning algorithms. Megha’s research interests lie in clinical informatics, cybersecurity, Electronic health records implementation, data visualization using Python and Tableau, machine learning, telemedicine, and clinical decision support systems. Upon completing her master’s degree, she aims to bridge the gap between the healthcare and technology sectors and leverage cutting-edge technologies.
