Harsh Patel is pursuing a master’s degree in Health Informatics at IU Indianapolis through an accelerated 4+1 track program. He previously earned a bachelor’s degree in Health and Human Sciences, complemented by a minor in Health Psychology and a certification in Nutrition & Diet. With nearly three years of volunteer experience in a hospital setting, where he assisted patients with mobility and appointment needs, he demonstrated a deep commitment to advancing healthcare accessibility and enhancing patient outcomes through innovative health informatics solutions.
Harsh’s academic work focuses primarily on technology-driven health improvements. He works in the area of examining the intersections of gender, technology, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), while simultaneously contributing to research on social determinants of health. He is developing a Human Activity Recognition (HAR) application for Android fitness watches designed to predict physical activities accurately.
His thesis research represents a convergence of their interests and expertise, integrating Human Activity Recognition (HAR), Electroencephalography (EEG), and Electromyography (EMG) technologies. This innovative research examines the potential impact of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) on reducing tremors in Parkinson’s patients, demonstrating his commitment to leveraging technology for meaningful healthcare outcomes.
