Kalp Patel is currently a graduate student at the IU Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering, where she is dedicated to obtaining a master’s degree in health informatics. Before her enrollment at IUPUI, Kalp achieved a bachelor’s degree in dental surgery (BDS) from Maharashtra University of Health Sciences in India. Her professional journey encompasses nine years of experience as both an associate and senior dentist in various private practices.
At the Purkayastha lab, Kalp works on NLP methods to perform topic modeling on different Health Informatics Capstone projects. Previously, she worked on analyzing qualitative interviews of Radiologists working with AI to understand the impact of the use of these tools on their image interpretation skills.
Kalp’s academic focus revolves around the intersection of machine learning, health data analysis, and data visualization using Python and Clinical Decision Support Systems. Upon the successful completion of her master’s degree, Kalp aspires to contribute to the field of public health informatics and make meaningful advancements in leveraging technology to improve healthcare outcomes.
